The responsibility of the corporation is to keep a steady income to assure the survival of the company otherwise they could then fall into decline and possibly even bankruptcy companies like Hollywood Studios who went defunct in 2007.
Independent film companies are smaller companies who produce or partmer with other big studios in producing films studios like amblin pictures who is owned by film director Steven Spielberg independent film studios tend to not follow the same styles and genres as there rivals the more bigger companies.
An independent director also know as an outside director is a filmmaker who does not have the luxury of being funded by a company and usually there projects are self funded with their own savings or an independent director can also be someone who does have some financial backing from company but does not own any shares in that said company. The competition in media is were two power house media firms clash and compete to be the best they have rivalry's for nearly everything from viewer counts, sales etc. Direct competitors is the most common in the media industry this is when two or more companies sell a similar product in the same category as yours for example in the UK it could be BBC news competing against sky news or itv news.

Professional presentation is crucial when it comes to working as a writer in the media industry if your hoping to interest potential buyers of your story/product. For example in the film industry scripts must be written in the master scene format or people from companies won't even look at it as it's not up to industry standard this is one of the most important things for presentation another is to keep your audience engaged otherwise you'll lose interest in your project and may lose possible funding.
Agent representation for a writer is highly important a writer requires a literary agent or possible a publishing agent these agents help makes sales and deals on the writers behalf these are the main responsibilities of the agents they also help the writer get recognition so that future deals can be made in the future.
Being communicative as a writer is important as this can help with possible requirements it helps you with deadlines and it can help if you need to speak to crews or cast for certain things if your in production for example you can speak to the director if your not happy with how a scene is going. They are many ways you can communicate weather this be speaking through phone calls or emails these are the most effective ways.
Time management is major in the media industry it's to ensure you meet the demands on time for example you may be asked to have the script finished for a new game that is coming out by a certain date or maybe the script needs to be altered and you would have a set date to have that finished by if you do not meet the time management production can be delayed which overall costs more money which can reduce profits that is why time management is so important when it comes to being a writer or working as anything in the media Industry.
Royalty payments is where a 3rd party company pays a certain amount to someone that owns a particular asset or if they are owed this certain amount of money to either keep in good relationship with the person or to keep using their asset legally. An example where this went wrong would be in 1994 Jeffrey Katzenberg who was the former chairman at Disney sued them because he was due money in his contract that was unpaid Disney then settled out of court and paid him the money he was entitled to.
Collobartions, a collobartions is where to writers join forces on an idea this can be a film or a TV show or even a game. An example of two great minds working on the same project could be when Nicholas Pileggi and Martin Scorsese worked together on the film casino they both had their own inputs on the script and both decided what should be in and out of the film. Sometimes collabs are required in the industry even if one party isn't interested in working with someone else.
Handing over control is where a creator hands over the rights or sells the rights for a specific asset this can either be because they no longer have any passion for the project or because they feel that they have explored everything they want to with the asset. Examples for this could be when George Lucas the writer and original creator of star wars decided in 2012 he was no longer interested in having the rights to Star wars he then sold them to Disney for a large sum of money and shares in Disney stocks.
SECTION 3
Copyright
What is copyright? Copyright is a serious issue in the film/TV industry it can cause multiple problems for the production company if it becomes an issue. It becomes a issue when a company uses a piece of music they do not own or a if they use characters from another writers work without permission. The punishments for copyright breaches is mainly fines for the breach the best way to avoid these is to get permission for the piece of content you want to use.
Plagiarism is another legal issue you must take seriously when working as a writer in the media industry plagiarism is where one creator uses a piece of work created by another writer without permission it's a serious issue in the media industry as it can lead to law suits and big fines set for using content you didn't help create. It's a legal responsibility for creators not to use each others content without giving the right permission.
Libel is an issue that everyone working in the media industry has to watch out for libel is when someone or a company release false statements about a certain person or organisation which can lead to the downfall of that said person or company.
Bias being bias is where you prefer a certain thing or are against a certain thing that is usually an unfair decision. Bias can be aimed towards certain projects or sometimes it can even be aimed towards a certain group of people.
Censorship, censorship while working in media is where certain parts of a game, film or TV show is prohibited from showing it can be put in place worldwide or just in certain countries. Censorships can be put in place for a range of issues some being obscene or even if a country thinks that piece is a threat to their country. Legal responsibility for censorship issues are making sure that your content is stable for countries and make sure they are not offensive in any way to avoid censorship. An example I have found in this is where in one specific south park episode they were multiple swear words and it was censored due to being rude and over the top.
Watersheds usually come in effect at 9pm every night it's mainly used to stop children watching TV shows or movies that would be unsuitable for them to watch they are effective because it allows more mature shows to be watched later during the night when children aren't watching the TV.
